Editorial Guidelines

Our Mission

Engineered Not Generated exists to close the gap between code that runs and software that endures. We publish essays, reviews, and practical guides for engineers who use AI tools without abandoning engineering discipline.

Every piece published here is held to a single standard: would a senior engineer trust this?

Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial, advertiser, or sponsor interests. We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage. When we review a tool, we evaluate it on its merits — no exceptions.

If we ever receive a product for review at no cost, we will disclose it explicitly in the article.

Accuracy and Rigor

All factual claims are cited. We link to primary sources — research papers, official documentation, published studies — not to secondary aggregators whenever possible. Statistics are presented with context: sample size, methodology, and date of publication.

We distinguish clearly between established fact, informed opinion, and speculation. Opinion is labeled as opinion.

Use of AI Tools

We use AI tools as research and drafting assistants. Every piece published on this site is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human editor before publication. AI-generated content is never published without critical human review.

We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, invent sources, or generate statistics. When AI tools are used in the production of a specific article, we may note it in the author note.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors promptly and transparently. When a factual error is found:

  • The correction is applied immediately.
  • A correction notice is appended to the article, describing what was changed and when.
  • For significant errors, a standalone correction post may be published.

To report an error, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Correction".

Conflict of Interest

Contributors disclose any professional or financial relationship with companies, tools, or projects discussed in their writing. Undisclosed conflicts of interest are grounds for retracting an article.

Guest Contributions

Guest contributions are accepted at editorial discretion. All submissions are reviewed for accuracy, originality, and alignment with our editorial standards before publication. We do not publish press releases, promotional copy, or content written primarily to drive traffic to a product.
